Apollo & Lunar Lander Module Model

This is a 1/48 scale model of the NASA Lunar Excursion Module. It measures 5 3/4" X 14" and was hand made from resin and plastic. It is an exact replica of the original spacecraft. The model that we have has been used as an educational aid.

It is an authentic piece of U.S. Space History.

Apollo 11 made history when it became the first manned mission to land on the Moon. The NASA "Eagle" landed on the lunar surface in 1969. It carried two astronauts to the moon's surface and returned them to the command module for their return to earth.
The first steps on the moon by humans was taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on July 20, 1969. The astronauts also returned to Earth the first samples from the lunar surface.
Apollo 11 achieved its primary mission - to perform a manned lunar landing and return the astronauts safely back to the Earth.
Here is NASA Astronaut Neil Armstrong during one of his Lunar walks.

Here is the Lunar Lander as seen from the moon. This picture was taken by Astronaut Neil Armstrong.

The Apollo 11 spacecraft consisted of the Command & Service Module "Columbia" and the Lunar Module known as the "Eagle".
The Apollo 11 spacecraft consisted of the Command & Service Module "Columbia" and the Lunar Module known as the "Eagle".
Apollo 11 Command Module Astronaut Michael Collins remained alone onboard the "Columbia" command module. For 28 hours he served as a communications link and photographed the lunar surface.

After reclaiming Armstrong and Aldrin from the ascent stage of the Lunar Module, "Columbia" was the only part of the spacecraft to return to Earth.
