This is a 1/100 scale model of the NASA Space Shuttle in launch configuration. It has the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB's) and the External Fuel Tank attached. The model measures 9" X 25" and was hand made from resin and wood.

It is an exact replica of the original spacecraft. The model that we have has been used as an educational aid.

It is an authentic piece of Space History.

The Space Transportation System, commonly referred to as the "Shuttle", consists of 3 main sections. The Orbiter, the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB), and the External Fuel Tank. The Orbiter and SRB's are reusable. The entire stack is 184 feet tall and weighs approximately 4.5 million pound
The Space Shuttle is launched in an upright position. It's  thrust is provided by the three Space Shuttle main engines and the two Solid Rocket Booster engines.
About 2 minutes after launch, the two boosters separate from the external tank. They then fall into the ocean at predetermined points and are recovered for later use.

The Space Shuttle main engines continue firing for about 8 minutes. They shut down just before the craft reaches orbit. The external tank then separates from the orbiter and follows a ballistic trajectory into a remote area of the ocean, but is generally not recovered.
