This is a hand made
resin and enamel  model of the Ukrainian Sich-1 spacecraft.

It is an authentic piece
of Russian Space History.

This model is of the first Ukrainian Satellite, Sich-1. It is a hand-made model of the first Ukrainian Satellite launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in 1996 and was carried into orbit by a Cyclone Rocket. The satellite's tasks are mainly weather and environmental monitoring. Sich is a national Ukrainian system of Earth observation which is being developed in accordance with National Space Program. The Sich system is intended for receiving routine data on the Earth in optical, infrared and microwave spectral ranges and acquisition and transmission of data from on ground platforms. The Sich satellite (original) has the following characteristics : weight-1950 kg, orbital altitude-650 km, inclination of orbit-82.5 deg.

The base plate of the model shows a globe with the Ukrainian State Seal and `First Ukrainian Sputnik` in Russian. The producer of the model, the Uzhmash factory, was the original producer of the Sich satellite and the Cyclone rocket which carried Sich into orbit. The height of the model is 13 inches. Only a limited number of these hand made models were produced and presented to officials of Uzmash and the National Ukrainian Space Agency.

The model
has hundreds of
miniscule details
and is the result of
several months of work by Russian craftsmen.

This image was
taken by the Sich-1 spacecraft and shows the Alps and Northern Italy.
